Contraceptives and periods

Many people believe that you can’t get pregnant while you’re having your period. And while it’s true that it’s less common to become pregnant while menstruating, it can still happen. So if you have your period and want to have sex, but don’t want to get pregnant, you still need to use some form of contraception. Condoms are a great choice as they also protect you from STDs. Birth control pills may alter the amount of blood lost during a period and make a period more regular, forcing it into a 28-day menstrual cycle. But it’s all about what suits your lifestyle best.
